چکیده

-Recently, we have introduced the first version of ACOPIN, an Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm for clustering proteins in the protein interaction network (PIN). Based on the experimental results, we have discovered serious pitfalls; very difficult to define the boundaries among clusters and unable to identify the overlapping clusters. These pitfalls contribute to low accuracy of detected cluster especially for the larger size. In this paper, we improve ACOPIN to overcome these pitfalls. The improvement includes the construction tour of ant based on topological weight and functional similarity weight. Artificial ants themselves perform the ‘exploration’ and ‘exploitation’ process in the PIN with the assistance from pheromone trails. We simulate the improved version onto one Yeast datasets and the result shows that the detected clusters has very high accuracy in terms of functional homogeneity of proteins.

An Ant-Colony Optimization Clustering Model for Cellular Automata Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

High efficient routing is an important issue for the design of wireless sensor network (WSN) protocols to meet the severe hardware and resource constraints. This paper presents an inclusive evolutionary reinforcement method. The proposed approach is a combination of Cellular Automata (CA) and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) techniques in order to create collision-free trajectories for every agent...

Optimal Distributed Generation (DG) Allocation in Distribution Networks using an Improved Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) Algorithm

Abstract: The development of distributed generation (DGs) units in recent years have created challenges in the operation of power grids, especially distribution networks. One of these issues is the optimal allocation (location and capacity) of these units in distribution networks. In this thesis, a method based on the improved ant colony optimization algorithm is presented to solve the problem ...

An Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm for Network Vulnerability Analysis

Intruders often combine exploits against multiple vulnerabilities in order to break into the system. Each attack scenario is a sequence of exploits launched by an intruder that leads to an undesirable state such as access to a database, service disruption, etc. The collection of possible attack scenarios in a computer network can be represented by a directed graph, called network attack gra...

A Study on Clustering the Protein Interaction Networks using Bio-Inspired Optimization

The gist of the paper is to provide an insight about the various clustering using bio-inspired optimization for Protein Interaction Network. The major idea behind the clustering protein-protein interaction network is to identify dense sub-graphs that show significant functional modules in protein-protein interactions. A set of proteins that interact with each other are actors of a specific cell...

An Ant Colony approach to forward-reverse logistics network design under demand certainty

Forward-reverse logistics network has remained a subject of intensive research over the past few years. It is of significant importance to be issued in a supply chain because it affects responsiveness of supply chains. In real world, problems are needed to be formulated. These problems usually involve objectives such as cost, quality, and customers' responsiveness and so on. To this reason, we ...
